Installations

Cameron works toward creating a sense of place and time with site-specific installations. In 2009, Cameron was part of MadArt: Window Art Installation in the Madison Park neighborhood of Seattle. Cameron’s piece, The Act of Becoming, was composed of three-dimensional fiber sculpture and hanging panels of screen-printed fabrics. Cameron’s installation was in a lingerie shop, emphasizing the themes of women’s roles through use of form, image, and materials.

Cameron’s 2008 installation, Seen/Unseen, was in an empty storefront as part of Sound Transit’s STart on Broadway. The installation combined panels of dyed fabrics with projected shadows of crows set in an environment of patterned sand. The installation was a response to changes in the neighborhood, a way to mark the passage of time, with markings on the fabric reminiscent of crumbling architecture. The images of crows, a bird that is a constant yet unremarked feature of the urban landscape, changed as the lighting shifted.

Other installations pictured here are interactive installations Cameron has created as a way to mark the transitions of the year, specifically the Winter Solstice.
